Era Watch Co Limited C. Rüefli-Flury & Co is a Swiss watch company. Christian Ruefli-Flury, a talented watchmaker originating from Grenchen, Switzerland founded the company in Biel/Bienne, in 1884.

EDOX

He soon associated the ancient Greek word “Edox”. He added 1900 an hourglass to the trademark Edox, as a distinctive visual symbol for the brand.

The company was soon thriving, doing worldwide business under the reputed private label of importers and retailers, as well as promoting their own brand "Edox".

Timeline

1921, upon the death of the founder, Robert Kaufman-Hug takes over. He leads the manufacturing transition from pocket watches to wristwatches.1955 the company employs 500 people and moves into a new factory, perhaps the most up-to-date of its time.

1961 launch of the famous "Delphin" line of models, setting new standards of shock-protection, water-resistance and rugginess.

1965 Victor Flury-Liechti takes over from his uncle and invests into new manufacturing technologies

1971 the company become an affiliate of General Watch Company (GWC), a sub-holding company of ASUAG

1977 restructuration with Technos and at a later date with Certina

1983, at the ending of the big late 1970s Swiss Watch Industry downturn, the company and all the rights to the brand is sold to Victor Strambini Montres Vista SA and moved to Les Geneveys, Jura Mountains. Their family management, has succeeded to revamp the brand and distribute it as a medium price range Swiss Watch Brand in selected worldwide watch markets.
