Edalakudy (Tamil: இடலாகுடி) is a well populated Muslim area about 3 km from the Nagercoil town in Kanyakumari district. It is located in the Kanyakumari highway (NH 47) and about 17 km from the beach of Kanyakumari, 5 km from Chothavilai Beach and 10 km from Chankuthurai Beach. Edalakudy forms the formal end of the Nagercoil Municipality. Muslims are the majority of this area. It shows the true Culture of the Muslims, where more than 13 mosques and Hospitals like Sulaiman polyclinic(Pediatric,Diabetic & Dental speciality clinic),Ugasewa charitable trust hospital, Abdul Kader Hospital and BACHPAN a play school (chain of schools all over India )is in this area. Most of the households have a family business running or have at least one person working abroad. This relates to the more affluent nature of this society. There are only a few schools in this area; though most of the children study in well known schools in Nagercoil town.
