Duttapukur (Bengali: দত্তপুকুর){also known as Nebadhai Duttapukur) is a census town under Barasat police station of Barasat sadar subdivision [1]in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Duttapukur is 30 km from Sealdah , 7 km from Barasat and 32 km from Bongaon on the Sealdah-Bongaon section of Eastern Railway [2]It is part of the Kolkata Suburban Railway system.There are also a big play ground at the corner of main platform.

It is on NH 35 Popularly known as Jessore Road.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[3], Duttapukur had a population of 19,882. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Duttapukur has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 73%. Education

There are many primary and higher secondary schools. There are many reputed higher secondary schools; Duttapukur Mahesh Vidyapith (H.S.), Nebadhai High School and Nebadhai Balika Vidyalaya.

There are reputed secondary schools: Adarsha Vidyapith, Rajiv Gandi Memorial School.

Subrata Basu & Swarnakamal Biswas both are honoured by "National Teacher" award from Govt. of India.

Culture

There are good number of clubs all around the Duttapukur area. Duttapukur Shibalaya Samabeta Sangha is a popular club in a district. the organization popular for his social programmes & sports, charity. This club connected with Rotary Club Of Calcutta, samabeta Sangha take 1st position in social work in north 24 pgs in Rotary Club Of calcutta's programme. its arrange eye testing camp,football & cricket tournament. this club donate books to the poor students. the club also arrange every year Kali Puja & cultural programmes.

Duttapukur Maitri Sangha is one of the most popular and the oldest club of Duttapukur, situated at Nebadhai Mannapara. It organises Durgapuja and Saraswati Puja every year since 1952 and also organises different types of social and cultural programmes.

Bayam Samity is one of the most popular clubs of Duttapukur. It organises Durgapuja Puja every year since 52 years. It has a small Library.

Duttapukur Balak Sangha and Duttapukur Yuva Gosthi organises Durga Puja. Duttapukur Agragami Club always arranges tournaments. Duttapukur Tarun Sangha Club organises not only the Durga Puja but also a big football tournament. Apart from this, there are several singing school (Sangeet Tirtha, Suromallar), dancing schools, drawing schools etc which spreads culture in society.

Duttapukur Friend's Club is a 30-year-old club. The club organises different types of innovative programmes - children's library where children can develop their reading capabilities. It established Rotary Community Corps of Diganta, Duttapukur, under Rotary Club of Barasat for community development. Different type of workshop for mask making, drama etc. for children are organised. Children festival (it is a first time in Duttapukur), dress distribution programme, educational material distribution, different type of awareness programme like Climate Change, Health and Education development of Women and Child are organised.

Healthcare

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination. ] In this connection, Rotary Club of Calcutta has taken a project purifying the rain water is to be given to the Kashimpur High & Girl’s school through Duttapukur RCC (Duttapukur Shibalaya Samabeta Sangha) . [4]
