Dulcitar
Dulcitar is one of a great many names used to describe a necked lute instrument with diatonic fretting, based on the Appalachian dulcimer.

History
The earliest attested dulcitars were those made by luthier Homer Ledford, who coined the term "dulcitar" as a portmanteau of "dulcimer" and "guitar". [1]
