Drug Metabolism and Disposition, also known as Drug Metabolism and Disposition: the Biological Fate of Chemicals, is a peer-reviewed scientific journal in the fields of pharmacology and toxicology. Founded in 1973, the journal is currently published monthly by the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) from offices in Bethesda, USA.[1][2] The journal publishes articles on in vitro and in vivo studies of the metabolism, transport, and disposition of drugs and environmental chemicals, including the expression of drug-metabolizing enzymes and its regulation.[1] As of 2010, the editor in chief is Eric F. Johnson.[3]

All issues are available online as PDFs, with text versions additionally available from 1997. Content from 1997 is available freely 12 months after publication.[1]

History

Drug Metabolism and Disposition was founded in 1973 by Kenneth C. Leibman, and was then subtitled "the biological fate of chemicals".[3][4] The initial frequency was bimonthly (six annual issues); it increased to monthly in 1995. The journal was published on behalf of the society by Williams & Wilkins from offices in Baltimore, USA until the end of 1996.[4]
