The mascot is a Titan and the Dominion sports teams play in the AA Dulles District and Region II. The Dominion Titans won their first Dulles District championships in 2006 for gymnastics and wrestling. In 2007, Dominion reclaimed the title of Dulles District wrestling champions. In the 2008-09 school year, the boy's basketball team won their first District title in school history and went all the way to the state quarterfinals. In the spring of 2010, the Titans' boys lacrosse team, coached by UNC Tarheel alumni Pete Lenotti, captured the school's first Dulles District Championship.
The Drama Department has been very successful in competitions. In 2007, actor Michael Zamostny won Best Actor in the VHSL One-Act competition. In 2009, the department received 2nd at the regional competition, and 4th at Districts. In 2010 actress Stephanie Booth received 2nd place at Regionals for Best Actress in the same competition. In 2009, the school joined the Cappies Awards Program of the Northern Virginia/DC Metro Area. For their production of Grease that year, Sam Allen received a nomination for Best Vocalist in the program. The following year, Ty Sheedlo received the award for Best Actor in a Play for the production of Harvey.
The band program at Dominion, run by Mr. Hartmetz, is very successful and constantly growing. When the school opened in 2003, the marching band consisted of twenty-three (23) people and was the smallest in its class. Five years later, in the 2008-09 school year, the program exploded to 103 students, throwing them right into the middle of a larger, more competitive class. In the 2009-10 school year, they received a first-place score of Superior at VBODA's state marching festival.
The concert band has grown from one class to two over the years, Ensembles 1 and 2. Both attend VBODA's District Festival every year. In 2009-2010, for the first time in school history, both ensembles received a score of superior. Due to the achievements of the marching band in the fall, Ensemble 1 received the distinction of Honor Band for the first time since 2006-07.
The jazz band is a smaller program that does not compete, but performs at school assemblies with the Latin Dance team, and with the local elementary schools' (Meadowland Elementary and Sugarland Elementary) Latin percussion students, also taught by Mr. Hartmetz.
