Dobrova is a settlement northwest of Ljubljana in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is the administrative centre of the Municipality of Dobrova-Polhov Gradec.[2]
The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and used to be an important pilgrimage church. It was built in 1716 on the site of an older church.[3] The church is one of the oldest churches in Carniola and was formerly known as the Church of Our Lady of the Hazels (cerkev Marije v leščevju) due to the hazels that still grow there. It was established as a pilgrimage destination prior to 1231.
On 27 January 1943 the Partisans burned down the newly-built six-year school in Dobrova.[4][5]
Dobrova is the birthplace of the composer Emil Adamič.
