Discovery Channel (Australia) is a television channel available on cable and satellite television in Australia. The Australian version of the Discovery Channel was previously operated by XYZnetworks,[3] who also own the exclusive distribution rights for the channel.[1]
It was launched in July 1995, replacing the Quest documetary channel launched in April 1995 by XYZ.[4]
Since the renaming of Travel & Adventure to Travel & Living, much of the travel genre programming (including first run series) has been removed from the Channel. On 29 March 2009 Discovery rebranded in line with Discovery US, complete with new IDs and the slogan 'The World Is Just Awesome.'
The Discovery Channel has many sister stations including Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Science, Discovery Travel & Living and Discovery Turbo. Both Discovery Channel and Turbo have timeshift channels, which rebroadcast programming 2 hours later.
