Dimitrios Tsaldaris (alternate spelling: Dimitris Tsaldaris) (Greek: Δημήτρης Τσαλδάρης) (born March 7, 1980, in Piraeus, Greece) is a Greek professional basketball player. He is a swingman. He is 1.96 m (6'5") in height.

Player profile

Tsaldaris is a left-handed, crafty offensive player and pesky defender. He is a good ball handler and passer and he can play the shooting guard and small forward positions.

Pro career

Tsaldaris began his professional career in 2001 with Alimos. He then played with Peristeri during the 2004–05 season and then with Panellinios Athens during the 2005–06 season. He was voted the Greek League's Best Young Player in 2006.[1]

He then transferred to Aris Thessaloniki. In 2009, he moved to the Italian League club Napoli. He then moved to the Italian clubs Sutor Montegranaro and Dinamo Sassari.

Greek national team

Tsaldaris has also played with the senior men's Greek national basketball team.

Personal life

He is married to Polina and has a daughter named Despina. In his spare time he enjoys reading and traveling. His sports idols are Michael Jordan and Drazen Petrovic. His favorite movie is 'Apocalypse Now' and favorite car the Nissan GT-R. He thinks of himself as a very quiet and reserved person who likes to be in group of friends. His jokes were famous in the Montegranaro trainings, with the usual victim being his co-player...Ivanov. He considers Zeljko Obradovic as the ideal coach, while the most difficult opponent ever faced, Navarro. His likes any kind of music and his nickname is "Mitsos". He thinks of Greek islands as the ideal destination for holidays and he prefers brunettes to blondes.[2]
