Dictyosphaerium is a genus of algae, in the family Dictyosphaeriaceae.[1] Dictyosphaerium is a fungal genus classified under the group "Hyphomycetes" although not much is known regarding its toxicity, it has the potential to cause phaeohyphomycosis. It thrives in freshwater and terrestrial habitats, as a common saprobe of substances of submerged lignocellulose.

Appearance: According to Microscopic views, its spores are tongue-shaped and multi-cellular with sub-concentric cells. Colors of its colonies tend to be black, dark brown or greenish black.
