The story begins with the introduction to the 13th century Kingdom of Aryanagar. A land divided into the royalty (the Aryavarts) and the slaves – the Shramiks. While the Aryavarts are in charge of managing the affairs of the State, providing for and taking care of the needs of the slaves, the Shramiks fulfill their duties towards the State by devoting their lives and their work towards the welfare of the Kingdom. The king, Aryavardhan, believes that the system works well for the welfare of the Kingdom. However, unknown to him, there is dissent and frustration creeping in amongst the slaves – brought on by the humiliation and brutality they have to face at the hands of the older brother of Aryavardhan – Jaivardhan.
Seeing Jaivardhan mercilessly whip an old man unable to fulfill his tasks, Soma, a young slave, dares to voice his dissent. While Aryavardhan gives him his freedom banishing him from the Kingdom; Jaivardhan makes a mockery of this decision by killing Soma.
It is in this time and place that Soma’s son takes birth believed by the slaves to be the Messiah who will save them for the tyranny of the Aryavarts and give them what they long for – their freedom. Aryavardhan and Jaivardhan are informed about the birth of the messiah of the slaves, the destroyer of the centuries old traditions and regime of the Aryavarts.
Jaivardhan decides to take matters into his own hands, he sets the entire slave colony ablaze, killing all new born children – in order to ensure that the messiah of the slaves fails to see the dawn of day.
Soma’s son escapes certain death as his sister drops his basket into the river accidentally. The waves take him to Nivriti – the widowed sister of Aryavardhan. She was at the river to let her own son (who had ben born dead) go in the river. When she sees the baby boy in the basket she believes its the gifts from the Gods. Even when her maid points out that the child is a Sharmik she refuses to listen and adopts him & bring him up as her own son – as Veer, as an Aryavart. The king jubilates over the birth of Veer and tells Nivriti that his son – Dharam and Veer will be brought up alike, be brothers & friends whose names will be taken in unison, whose love and togetherness will be immortal.
Their story takes us through their escapades in the palace, to how the two of them decide to take on the impossible task of building the statue for the temple (which they had broken by mistake) in four days. They free a Sharmik, Bheem Sen from the prison to help them finish their task. When Bheem Sen gets recaptured at the presentation of the statue both Dharam and Veer do not own up that they had freed Bheem Sen and this leads to Bheem Sen getting a death sentence. Even though Dharam feels guilty he does not want to break the Parampara of Aryanagar. Veer who always follows his heart, comes as a masked man and sets him free. While making their escape, Veer (as himself) meets up whit Dharam who tells him what had happened. The both of them follow Bheem Sen.
Dharam (played by Vikrant Massey) is the Only Son of Aryavardhan and thereby the heir to the Throne of the Kingdom of Aryanagar. Brought up to believe in Righteousness, Follow his Dharma as a Prince & fulfill his Responsibilities and Duties towards the Kingdom of Aryanagar & its people. He is a year older than Veer, who is his best friend and cousin. Dharam loves and has complete faith in Veer and he is the one who usually uses his mind and his knowledge of the Aryanagar parampara over his feelings when faced with a situation. He has also developed some feelings for the princess of Awadhi- Rajkumari Sia.
Veer (played by Rajat Tokas) is Dharam’s Cousin & and Best friend, and he loves Dharam and believes it is his duty to protect him no matter what. Instinctive and spontaneous, blessed with a natural wit and intelligence which he utilizes to help Dharam fulfill his Princely Duties and Responsibilities. His character is very interesting because his life takes a new twist once he will finds out that he is not an Aryavrat but a Shramik, and not just any shramik but the Messiah that the sharamiks have been waiting for. The one who will free them from the cruelty of the Aryavrats.
He falls in love with a robber Shera who pretends to be a princess named Ananya but when her secret is revealed it leaves Veer shocked. He then decides to forget her but Shera wants to make him realize that she hadn't become a daku of her own free will but Veer doesn't listen to her. Eventually, when Veer decides to fulfill his destiny, he enlists Shera's help to help in his campaign. This puts them back on speaking terms again, allowing Veer to see that what he was believed of Shera was very bias and he starts to fall in love with her again.
Shera (Played by Mugdha Chaphekar ) is a Lady goon. She is a strong lady who does whatever her father says her to do. Her work is to rob people and increase the treasure. She had been given the ransom to kill Dharam when she meets Veer. She represents herself as a princess named Ananya, and soon falls in love with Veer and realises what she does is wrong. She changes herself for her love. But her identity gets revealed in front of Veer and they both get separated. Still she keeps on helping Veer in all possible ways and makes him realise that she has realised her mistakes and changed herself.
She is the princess of Avadhi. She has got a sharp tongue and throws frequent tantrums. She wants everything to go her way. Her few encounters with Dharam leaves her angry but she falls for him later encouraged by a fortune-teller, who was actually Veer in disguise. When she speaks low of Shramiks in Aryanagar Dharam indignantly tells her to step out of his kingdom. Later she realizes her mistake and loves Dharam but with no response from Dharam's side.
