Derius’s men’s football team have competed in the lower divisions of the Finnish football league since 1996. In the early seasons they made great progress gaining three promotions over 4 years – rising from the Kutonen (Sixth Division) in 1997, Vitonen (Fifth Division) in 1999 and Nelonen (Fourth Division) in 2000 – before reaching their summit in 2001 in the Kolmonen (Third Division) where they were quickly relegated at the end of the season.[2]
Since that time Derius have been on a downward slide which has seen them drop down into the Kutonen (Sixth Division) where they began competitive life. In 2006 and 2007 they experienced a lack of players and were only able to field a joint team with neighbours Jokelan Kisa. In 2008 and 2009 the club sadly were unable to field any teams in the Finnish football league. However in 2010 they have bounced back at are now fielding 2 teams in the Kutonen (Sixth Division), namely Derius and Derius/JAKki.
