Dean Kay is a business man who has been working in the music industry since before 1985.[1] He has worked for several notable publishing companies, has been a board member at ASCAP since 1989, and in his early years was a successful songwriter[2] having written songs for several artists including Frank Sinatra.[3] Most recently he has started publishing Deans List,[4] an e-mail newsletter aimed at the professional music industry concerning the Internet and its role in music.
Throughout his career he has worked with several notable artists including Elton John, Ricky Skaggs, Don Williams, and Rick Springfield, among others. He has served on many industry boards including those of the Academy of Country Music (ACM), the Country Music Association (CMA), the California Copyright Conference, the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA), and the ASCAP Foundation.[5][6][7] He is currently the president and CEO of his own venture, Lichelle Music Company, and serves as the chairman of ASCAP’s New Technologies Committee.[8][9][10]
