The David Lyman II House, also known as the Lyman Homestead, in Middlefield, Connecticut, was designed in 1863 by New Haven architect Rufus G. Russell. It has been regarded as "one of the finest examples of the Gothic Revival style in the greater Middletown area."[2]:5
David Lyman II operated a 500 acre farm. The remaining 2-acre (0.81 ha) property, which included four contributing buildings, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.[1][2]
Lyman commissioned Rufus G. Russell of New Haven to design the main block of the house. It was built during 1859-1864. Richard Powell, in 1864, was employed as the stonemason.[2]
