D.B. Weiss

Daniel B. Weiss is an American author. His debut novel Lucky Wander Boy was themed around video games and has since been linked with the screen adaptations of various science-fiction and fantasy stories. He has expressed an interest in writing for video games.

Biography

Born and raised in Chicago, a graduate of Wesleyan University, he earned a Masters of Philosophy in Irish Literature from Trinity College, Dublin and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the Iowa Writers' Workshop.[1]

Weiss has apparently finished a second novel that he described as 'needing a second draft'.[2]

Screenwriting

D. B. Weiss was hired to rewrite the screenplay for a film adaptation of Bungie's game series Halo, based on the $1 million dollar script written by Alex Garland. The rewrite was during 2006 and planned for a 2008 release.[3] He also penned a script of Orson Scott Card's book Ender's Game.[4]

Weiss is currently working with David Benioff, the writer of Troy, on Game of Thrones, the HBO TV adaptation of George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.[5]

Weiss is also currently writing the script for the I Am Legend prequel film,[6] and a remake of They Live by director John Carpenter.[7]
