Därligen is a municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Därligen is first mentioned in 1244 as Tedningen.[3]
Därligen lies in the Bernese Oberland at the south shore of Lake Thun. The town is located at the lakeshore at the mouth of the Aare River canal, while the municipality reaches to the Därliggrat ridge. The town has a railway station.
Därligen has an area, as of 2009[update], of 6.91 km2 (2.67 sq mi). Of this area, 1.35 km2 (0.52 sq mi) or 19.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 4.52 km2 (1.75 sq mi) or 65.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.4 km2 (0.15 sq mi) or 5.8% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.03 km2 (7.4 acres) or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes and 0.55 km2 (0.21 sq mi) or 8.0% is unproductive land.[4]
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.7% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.3%. 58.5% of the total land area is heavily forested and 5.6% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 9.1% is pastures and 10.3% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams. Of the unproductive areas, 4.6% is unproductive vegatation and 3.3% is too rocky for vegatation.[4]
Därligen has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 413.[1] As of 2007[update], 9.2% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -3.2%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (94.2%), with Albanian being second most common ( 1.9%) and French being third ( 1.7%).
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 36.6% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (23.5%), the Green Party (14.2%) and the FDP (8.8%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 21.4% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 60.2% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 18.4%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Därligen about 83% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).
Därligen has an unemployment rate of 1.28%. As of 2005[update], there were 16 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 7 businesses involved in this sector. 5 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 4 businesses in this sector. 36 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 12 businesses in this sector.[5]
