Ammocharis
Ammocharis is a genus in the Amaryllidaceae family (subfamily Amaryllidoideae) which includes 6 species distributed in Africa. The plant grows as a succulent, above-ground bulb, preferring seasonally wet, hot, sandy soils and full sun.

- Ammocharis baumii (Harms) Milne-Redh. & Schweick., J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 52: 187 (1939). Tropical Africa to Namibia.
- Ammocharis coranica (Ker Gawl.) Herb., Appendix: 17 (1821). Distributed from Zimbabwe to South Africa. nown as "Karoo Lily".
- Ammocharis longifolia (L.) Herb., Appendix: 17 (1821). Distributed from Western Namibia to South Africa. Here are included Cybistetes herrei (F.M.Leight.) D.Müll.-Doblies & U.Müll.-Doblies, and Cybistetes longifolia (L.) Milne-Redh. & Schweick., formerly considered another genus. This species is known as "Malgas Lily".

- Ammocharis tinneana (Kotschy & Peyr.) Milne-Redh. & Schweick., J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 52: 177 (1939). Distributed from Sudán to Namibia.
