Cronkhill
Cronkhill, a country house in Shropshire near Shrewsbury, was designed by John Nash about 1802[1] for the second Lord Berwick,[2] who lived nearby at Attingham Park. The house is one of the incunabula of Italianate architecture in Great Britain.
Notes
- ^ A design was exhibited at the Royal Academy, 1802, as a "house near Shrewsbury" (Howard Colvin).
- ^ The patron was not Lord Berwick's agent and friend, Francis Walford, as reported by Colvin, for Walford was not appointed until 1804 ('Domesday Book: 1750-1875', A History of the County of Shropshire: Volume 4: Agriculture (1989), pp. 168-231.
