Colotepec is a town in the municipality of Ayutla de los Libres, Guerrero, Mexico. It is situated at an elevation of 430 meters, and has a population of 2,690.

The name Colotepec means "Scorpion Hill" in the Nahuatl language.[1]
The population of 2,690 consists of 1,313 males and 1,377 females. There are 1,261 adults, of which 198 are older than 60 years of age. The remaining 1,429 inhabitants are children.
