Cimișlia is a district (Moldovan: raion) in the south of Moldova, with the administrative center at Cimișlia. On January 1, 2011, its population was 61,700.

History

Localities with the earliest documentary attestation are Sagaidac, Javgur, Gura Galbenei localities approved for the first time in years from 1605-1670 period. Present territory of the district was populated populated later with Moldovans, unlike Leova District (west). 17th-18th centuries, grow primarily agriculture, wine-making industries, but attest to a significant demographic growth. In 1812, after the Russo-Turkish War (1806-1812), is the occupation of Basarabia, Russian Empire during this period (1812-1917), there is an intense russification of the native population. In 1918 after the collapse of the Russian Empire, Bessarabia united with Romania in this period (1918–1940, 1941-1944), the district is part of the Lăpușna County. In 1940 after Molotov-Ribbentrop Treaty, Basarabia is occupied by the USSR. In 1991, as a result of the proclamation of Independence of Moldova, part and residence of the Lăpușna County (1991-2003), and in 2003 became administrative unit of Moldova.

Geography

Cimislia district is located in the south part of the Republic of Moldova. Neighborhood has the following district: district Hîncești and Ialoveni in north, east Căușeni District, Gagauzia, Basarabeasca District and state border with Ukraine in the south. The hilly plain relief, with maximum altitudes in the northern part of district where over 250 m (Central Moldavian Plateau), otherwise relief ranging from 50 to 200 meters. Erosion processes with a low intensity.

Climate

Temperate continental climate with an annual average district temperature +10+10.5 c. July average temperature +22+23 C, of January -4 C. Annual precipitation 450–550 mm. Average wind speed 2–5 m \ s.

Fauna

Typical European fauna, with the presence of such mammals such as foxes, hedgehogs, deer, wild boar, polecat, wild cat, ermine and others. Of birds: partridges, crows, eagles, starling, swallow and more.

Flora

Forests of the district are complemented by tree species such as oak, ash, hornbeam, linden, maple, walnut and others. From plants: wormwood, denial, knotweed, fescue, nettle and many others.

Rivers

Cimislia district is located in the Black Sea basin. The main river that crosses the is Cogalnic River (243 km), tributary of left Schinoasa (53 km). Most lakes are artificial origin.

Economy

The district is in total 10,856 registered businesses. The share of agricultural land is 55,000 ha (59.6%) of the total area of land: arable land occupies 45 575 ha (49.4%) of the total agricultural land, orchard plantations - 2298 ha (2.5%), vineyards occupy 6436 ha (7.0% ), pastures - 11,897 ha (12.9%).

Education

In Cimislia district active, 34 educational institutions. Total number of students, including in schools 9079 children, versatile professional school students 300. Currently in educational institutions operating in the district 740 teachers.

Politics

Cimislia district granted priority mainly right-wing parties. In Moldova represented by the AEI. PCRM is a continuous fall in percentage the last three elections.

During the last three elections AEI had an increase of 120.7%

In Cimislia district works: a museum, artistic works 15, 14 bands holding the title of the band model, public Libraries - 39.

Health

In Cimislia district works: a hospital with 200 beds general fund, a center of family doctor's in the composition of which are 14 offices of family doctor's, six health center's, 16 health points. In health care population of district operates 65 doctors, 217 personal care environment, 115 and auxiliary medical personnel.
