The China Xinhua News Network Corporation (CNC simplified Chinese: 中国新华新闻电视网; traditional Chinese: 中國新華新聞電視網; pinyin: Zhōngguó Xīnhuá Xīnwén Diànshì Wǎng) is a Chinese state-owned television network owned by the Xinhua News Agency that began broadcasting on January 1, 2010. It was launched alongside with CNC Chinese and CNC Finance and Business Channel.[1]
The CNC World Channel will initially broadcast programs in Chinese 24 hours a day, with plans to broadcast English language programs from July 2010 and other languages. It broadcasts in the Asia-Pacific region and some European countries, as part of its plans to "transform itself into a multi-media world news agency".[2] The channel is aimed at a foreign audience, but will still be viewable from within mainland China.[3]
The cost of the operation is around 45 billion yuan ($9.24 billion).[4]
