Chhokar( also known as Chhaunker , Chhoker , Chhonker ) is a clan found among Rajputs , Jats , Gujjars and Sikhs.

Distribution

There are 78 villages of Chhokar Rajputs in Gautam Budh Nagar District and in Bulandshahr . There are also 52 villages of Chhokar Rajputs in Aligarh . They are also found in Palwal and in Faridabad.

Samalkha segment of Panipat district of harayan is dominated by Chhokars GURJAR .There are 24 villages of Chhokars in this region. Also there are 12 villages of Chhokars in saharanpur district of UP.

Famous Chhokar

Baldev Singh Dumna, the first Defense Minister of India, was Chhokar Gurjar. Baldev Singh was involved in securing India's independence from the British Raj. He died in 1961.

Ch. Yashpal Singh Chokkar, the former Agriculture Minister of India in Rajeev Gandhi Govt., was Gurjar Chhokar.He was M.P. from Saharanpur parliamentary seat.

Chet Singh Chhokar was a doctor in the British Army who fought in World War I
who was awarded many medals for his bravery in the war including

Member of British Empire and George Cross Medal of those times. He often used Chet Singh not Chet Singh Chhokar as his last name. He was a Gurjar Chhokar.
