Chelydontops is an extinct genus of non-mammalian synapsid. Was a Middle Triassic dicynodont, living about 220 million years ago. It was similar to Kannemeyeria.
Chelydontops Altidentalis was first collected on Canada and was located on the Wolfville Formation in Nova Scotia.
The remains of this herbivore have been found in the Wolfville Formation . Chelydontops measured 6 meters in length and weighed approximately 2000 kg. This genus was a contemporary of the smaller and more common Dinodontosaurus. The differences between Chelydontops and Dinodontosaurus may reflect adaptations to feeding on different plant species.
