Chaldon is a village in Surrey, England on the North Downs to the west of Caterham. It falls within the boundaries of Tandridge district.
The village lay within the Anglo-Saxon administrative division of Wallington hundred.
Chaldon is often nicknamed "Little Switzerland" because of the heavy snowfall that affects the village each Winter.
The church of SS. Peter and Paul (11th century) contains a large wall painting of around 1170 depicting images of salvation and damnation, whose full title is "The Ladder of the Salvation of the Human Soul and the Road to Heaven". It is considered one of the most important in England.
