Dr. Chérie Carter Scott (known as "Dr. Chérie") born May 30, 1949 in Long Branch, New Jersey, is the author of several bestselling self-help and life-coaching publications.

She attended the University of Dijon in France. She later attended the University of Denver where she received her BA degree in theater. As a student, she spent her summers in Summer stock theater and after college was cast by Joseph Papp in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, in Central Park, New York. She later attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota and later transferred to the Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, California where she received her master’s and doctorate degrees. She started life coaching in 1974 .

Her bestselling book, If Life is a Game, These are the Rules is used as a text in 100 university and colleges throughout the United States and her book, If High School is a Game, Here’s How to Break the Rules has been adopted by 50 high schools. In 1974 she founded the MMS Institute, LLC. (MM standing for Motivation Management) The Institute was built around executive business coaching, business skills training, and life skill coach training offered for personal growth and professional training. The Institute has bean international affiliate, The MMS Worldwide Institute, BV located in The Netherlands, and operated by Carter-Scott's sister, Lynn U. Stewart.

Her best known book, If Life is a Game, These are the Rules sold many millions of copies¸ was translated into 40 languages and featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Montel Williams Show, The Sally Jessy Raphael Show and others. In the book, the author claims that there are no mistakes in life, only lessons that are repeated until learned. Online Community

Cater-Scott launched an online coaching community on May 30, 2009. The site is a combination of online courses, goal setting, social networking and Life Coaching.It gives community members access to a worldwide network of coaches, online courses and other resources. Caching in a variety of different languages like Spanish, Dutch, Tagalog (Filipino), German and French.
