Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Sligo)
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Sligo, Ireland, is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Elphin. It was opened on 26 July, 1874 by Cardinal Paul Cullen of Dublin[1] and consecrated on 1st July 1897.[1] The Cathedral was built in a Norman Style, and it is the only Norman Styled Cathedral in Ireland. It can seat 1400 people. It has a impressive spire at the front and large apse in the Sanctuary. The Cathedral can be seen from any part of the town. It is dark grey with a tall tower and a short spire. It is hard to tell where it is because it is similar to the Town Hall.
