Carphochaete is a genus of seven[1] shrubs or subshrubs native to Mexico, with the range of one species extending into the southwestern United States.[1]
Carphochaete is in the tribe Eupatorieae of the aster family. Like other members of this tribe, the flower heads have disc florets and no ray florets.
The plants sometimes classified in Cronquistia probably belong in Carphochaete.[2]
