Canara pearlspot (Etroplus canarensis) or banded chormide is a species of cichlid endemic to South Karnataka in India.

It belongs to handful of species of cichlids from Asia, and unlike other members of genus Etroplus it is found in freshwater only. It is a schooling cichlid which again is not a common characteristic of the cichlid family.
It reaches size up to 7 inches (18 cm).
It is a much sought out cichlid, and somewhat rare cichlid in aquarium hobby. In recent past there have been some reports of breeding in captivity.
