Camp Roosevelt on Sackett Lake in Monticello, New York, was a summer sleepaway camp. Its colors were grey and blue. At one time, it was owned by The Amdurs and the Ottensteins. [1]
It was a coeducational camp in the Catskill Mountains and campers enjoyed a variety of activities including athletics, dramatics, arts and crafts, Sing, Intercamp games with neighboring camps and Color War.
Campers were primarily from the New York City metropolitan era and most if not all were Jewish. In the 1950s, Ralph Lauren (then known as Ralph Lipschitz) was a camper and a counselor. [2]
Roosevelt first opened in 1926. When the camp closed in the 1980s, many campers and staff members attended Kutsher's Camp Anawana.

The Morse family was most definitely the most recognizable family at Roosevelt in the 1940's-1960's era. Uncle Tex hired Phil Morse who was a school principal in NYC to be the new aggressive head counselor. "Uncle" Phil started out as head of the waterfront, became friends with Ray "Chesty" Crets. Uncle Phil then devised an ingenious program of activities for the campers which proved to be some of the best year's in Camp Roosevelt's wonderful history.
