Cambalache is an Argentina's tango composed in 1934 by Enrique Santos Discépolo for the movie The Soul of the Accordion , released the following year.[1]
The song, originally written during the Infamous Decade was banned in all argentine dictatorial governments since its creation. Cambalache in Argentina and Uruguay refers to a bazaar of used goods.
One of the most famous stanzas of the tango says: “Igual que en la vidriera irrespetuosa de los cambalaches se ha mezclao la vida, y herida por un sable sin remache ves llorar la Biblia junto a un calefón”. (Like in the disrespectful window of the bazaars, life is mixed up,and wounded by a sword without rivets you can see a Bible crying next to a water heater.)[2]
