Calliphorinae is a subfamily of the blow-flies, family Calliphoridae. The distinguishing characteristics of this subfamily are as follows: the stem vein is bare, the lower calypter and the proepisternal depression are bristly, but the suprasquamal region is bare or with only a few random bristles. The thorax is dull and bears fine hairs, and the abdomen is usually colored shining blue.[1]
The Bengaliinae (which have a more yellowish and dull abdomen) are usually included herein, as are in older treatments the Luciliinae and Polleniinae. The latter two are more often considered separate subfamilies in recent works.
