Carlos Alberto Souto Maior Silva Batista, usually known as Calita (born 20 December 1970, is an Angolan-born footballer who plays in midfield for Imortal Desportivo Clube.[1]
While in England, Batista was often called Carlita.[2]
Calita played for several teams in the Algarve, before appearing in the Portuguese Liga with S.C. Farense in 1994–95. He signed for Coventry City on 5 July 1995, after failing a trial at Blackburn Rovers, for a fee reported as variously £125,000, £250,000 or £350,000. Calita never broke into the team and finished 1995–96 back in Portugal with Boavista, where he wore the number 26 shirt.[3]
