The California Technology Agency (CTA) is California's cabinet-level agency with statutory authority over IT strategic vision and planning, enterprise architecture, policy, and project approval and oversight.[1] The current Secretary of California Technology is Carlos Ramos.[2]
The OCIO was authorized by California Senate Bill 834 in 2006. The Governor reorganized the office with the Governor's Reorganization Plan No. 1 of 2009, which was approved by the Little Hoover Commission[3] and the Legislature, and took effect May 10, 2009. In the reorganization, the office subsumed the Office of Information Security within the Office of Information Security and Privacy Protection, the Department of Technology Services, and the Department of General Services' Telecommunications Division. The office was similarly reorganized as the California Technology Agency and the Secretary of California Technology in AB 2408 which took effect January 1, 2011.
