Calcium cyanide is an inorganic compound with the formula Ca(CN)2. It is the calcium salt of hydrogen cyanide. At normal conditions, it appears as colorless crystals or white powder with characteristic odor of bitter almonds (see hydrogen cyanide). Like other similar cyanides it is very toxic. It hydrolyses readily (even on moist air) and releases hydrogen cyanide.[1]
Calcium cyanide is used in the leaching of gold.[2]
