History of previous ownership

The station received CRTC approval on June 9, 2004 [1] and was launched on November 25, 2004 at 80 Hunter St. East by King's Kids Promotions Outreach Ministries. The studios are now located at the Kingswood Life Center at 993 Talwood Drive.

Formerly known as "KAOS" radio, the station's first call letters were CKKK-FM.

In March 2007, CKKK-FM applied to move from 99.5 FM to 90.5 FM. CKPT-AM was approved in 2007 to move to 99.3 FM which is the adjacent frequency of 99.5 FM. On July 9, 2007 CKKK received CRTC approval to move to 90.5 FM.[2]

On August 20, 2007, CKKK at 99.5 FM moved down the dial to 90.5 FM just over a month after the approval from the CRTC.

On March 31, 2008, KAOS Radio 90.5 FM went dark after being blocked from its new tower site at 1001 Talwood Drive. This, despite the fact that the project was approved by the CRTC and Industry Canada in August 2007.

The station, plus previous and current ownership of the tower site at 1001 Talwood Drive were not able to resolve differences.

Sale of station & new format

The CRTC approved the sale of the station on June 26, 2009 to 4352416 Canada Inc.[3] Soon after, the station adopted its current callsign CJMB-FM.

In December 2010, the station became the only station in the city broadcasting "Local News Every Hour", as well as the only station in the city broadcasting "All Christmas Music, All The Time"; and come May 30, 2011, is introducing talk focused programming to Peterborough (details below).

New tower site

On December 3, 2009, the CRTC approved the station's new new tower site with a power increase from 50 to 206 watts.[4]

New format

The station's programming focus is on local news every hour; with the forthcoming strategy of local, call-in talk shows on matters of local importance, faith and family; plus encouraging bible teaching, and today's Christian music.

Reflecting the fact that Peterborough has approximately 33% more churches per capita than the rest of Canada, the station remains licensed as a Christian station.

FM 90.5 Community Club Awards

FM 90.5 has organized the not for profit service clubs and community organizations of Peterborough County to earn their share of tens of thousands of dollars in cash awards by shopping at the station's category-exclusive Community Club Awards advertisers, instead of their competitors.

The station collects the clubs' receipts, tallies them, and clubs earn cash awards each week for 1st through 10th place based on club activity with advertisers.

New test signal goes on air

FM 90.5 began test signal broadcasting at 4:05 pm, Thurs. Oct. 14, 2010, featuring the song "Stronger" by Hillsong.
