China Europe International Business School (CEIBS; simplified Chinese: 中欧国际工商学院; traditional Chinese: 中歐國際工商學院) is one of the three international business schools affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University located in Shanghai, China. The school was established in 1994 in Beijing as a joint venture between the European Commission, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It was then moved to Shanghai, where it spent its first years in Shanghai Jiaotong University's Minhang campus. IESE Business School in Barcelona has supported its development. Today CEIBS has its own facilities in Shanghai's Pudong district, a small yet complex design by architect I. M. Pei and Beijing Campus. In this project, I.M. Pei combined classical monastic proportions of European heritage with Chinese elements.

In its short history, CEIBS has become one of the top MBA programmes in Asia (besides Indian School of Business and HKUST) and it is placed 17th in the world, according to the Financial Times (2011 edition).[1] In 2009, CEIBS has become the first Chinese business school to (temporarily) make the worldwide top 10.[2] Its EMBA programme, ranked 11th worldwide by the same publication[3], is the largest in the world topping 700 students in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen. Its joint venture partners are Shanghai Municipal Government, and the European Union.
In May 2009 CEIBS has started a MBA program in Ghana for the first time.[4]
CEIBS recent rankings: • #1 "Most Valuable Full-time MBA Programme in China" (2011/2012) Bloomberg Businessweek China & QS • #1 "Most Valuable Full-time MBA Programme in China" (2005-2010): Forbes China • #5 Top Non-US Two-Year MBA (2011): Forbes (in Top 5 since 2009) • #17 worldwide, full-time MBA Programme (2010): Financial Times • #1 "Best Business School in China" (2011, 2010, 2009), #33 worldwide: Ed Universal (award chosen by 1000 international b-school deans) • #1 Chinese B-School in the Asia Pacific (2012) QS Top MBA
Unlike most major business schools, CEIBS finances itself mostly from stipends. It also receives some funding from the European Union and the municipal government of Shanghai.
