History

In 1951, the two strongest teams in the local league, el Independencia y el Libertad United created a team in Segunda División Profesional with the name "La Piedad". In their first season in the Segunda División they were able to get promoted after a great result visiting the team San Sebastián de León in the last week of the season. The team just created with only local players were able to get promotion in the summer of 1952. Unfortionately with their inexperience they decided to "reinforce" the team with foreign players who didn't have the experience to compete in the Primera División. In their first season in top flight football they ended in the last position in the table only 2 points from América, becoming relegated back to Segunda División profesional. The players who founded the team in that distant 1951 were: Enrique Aguilar (goalkeeper), Trinidad el "Carpo" Rodríguez, Isidro la "Borracha" Ibarra, Héctor "La Cheta" Ibarra, Ernesto "La Peluda" Ibarra, Ramón "La Pini" Ibarra, Vicente "None" López, Salvador "Quiche" López, Cosme Vargas, Ramón "Moliano" Vargas, Luis "La Jirafa" Reyes, José "Joselillo" Ramírez, Francisco "La Moca" Montoya couched by Servando Vargas. During decades there were stuck in the second division until the summer of 2001 they once again returned to top flight football.
