The Butte-aux-Cailles ("quail hill", although the name actually comes from Pierre Caille, who bought a vineyard here in 1543[1]) is a neighbourhood of Paris, France[2] located in the 13th arrondissement on one of the hills in the southeast corner of the city.
The 13th arrondissement is home to a Chinatown and has as a small vibrant North African population but the area of the Butte-aux-Cailles rather assembles a young trendy and festive Parisian population gathering in the bars and restaurants. The Butte-aux-Cailles has a village feel as it was incorporated into Paris only in the late 19th century.[2]
