Budhabare, Mechi is a Village Development Committee in Jhapa District in the Mechi Zone of south-eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 16,567 people residing in 3091 individual households.[1]

Budhabare is located in the lap of the hills of Ilam. Budhabare is so named because of the market that is located there every Wednesday (Budhabar in Nepali). The market grew in importance tremendously after the highway to Ilam was constructed, as Budhabare now lies between Ilam and the Prithvi Highway which connects to the rest of Nepal. It is the most fertile area of Jhapa district and grows 2/4 part of rice, corn and Supari.

Facilities in Budhabare

Budhabare VDC has one health post center and so many organizations working for the development of VDC. The Nepal Red Cross Society Sub Chapter Budhabare is working hard for the awareness of the local people. But it is lacking some of the financial support and it is expecting to have its own ambulance to support local people.

For education, there are two government higher secondary schools and three private higher secondary schools (Karnali International Boarding school, Jyoti English school and Mahananda Sikshya Sadan).

There are many temples like Ram Janaki Temple(mandir), Jai Hanuman Temple located middle of Budhabare Bazar(Market). Shri Krishan Pranami Temple is located in Gairi Gaun. Than Bishnu Temple in Budhare-6. There is one movie theater in Budhabare, Durgadevi chalchitra Mandir.
