The village of Breno stands in a ravine by the natural north-south, between the hill of the castle and the Horn Cerreto. The professor Fedele believes that keeping the gorge was once the bed of Oglio, which now runs more to the east, over the hill of the Castle.

At Spinera at the river Oglio, this is the Sanctuary of Minerva of the first century CE, been burned in the fifth century.

In the Middle Ages are reminded that at the Castle Breno there were two towers, a Guelph, belonging to the family Ronchi, the other Ghibelline, family Alberzoni.

On December 31, 1397 is the peace of Breno sides between Guelphs and Ghibellines. The representatives of the community of Breno sided both on shore Ghibelline (Betina John Marone and Clarino Ronchi) than on the Guelph (Ronchi Francescino of Pasolini). [10]

During the age veneziana Camonica Breno Valley was home of the Community of Valle Camonica.

Breno today is the seat of the Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica.
