Bluff City is an unincorporated community in Fayette County, Illinois, USA. This community is located two miles east of Vandalia on the historic road of Rt. 40.

The area around this community was said to have one of the largest pre-Columbian Native American settlements. In 1949, Bluff Equipment Inc., a Case IH, Kubota, and Arctic Cat dealership, was founded, and is still located there.
Bluff City, Ill is the birth place of Dr. Roy E. Yarbrough (1948). Dr. Yarbrough is noted as the Guru of Mascotology (the study of Sport Mascots history). Prof of Sport Management Studies at California Univ. of PA.
