Controversies

In March 2009, Bluehost received national attention when they appeared in a Newsweek article that condemned the hosting company for censoring the web pages of some their customers believed to be living in a country that the US Government had listed as a rogue state.[4][5]

In February 2011, Bluehost took down a religious website that they were hosting on its servers after receiving thousands of complaints when that website posted comments blaming gays and lesbians for an earthquake in New Zealand.[6]

Server Software

In the Standard hosting package provided by Bluehost, the server software is Apache HTTP Server version 2.2.17, and OpenSSL version 0.9.8e.[7]
