Bitchfield is a small village in Lincolnshire, England, consisting of two groups of buildings connected by Dark Lane, known as Bitchfield and Lower Bitchfield, collectively called Bitchfield. It lies on the B1176, running east and parallel to the A1 road, and south east of Grantham.[1]
Bitchfield is part of the civil parish of Bitchfield, Bassingthorpe and Westby.[2] The ecclesiastical parish is separate, however, covering just Bitchfield. It is part of the North Beltisloe Group of parishes in the Deanery of Beltisloe, in the Diocese of Lincoln. The parish church, in Lower Bitchfield, is dedicated to St Mary Magdalene. The incumbent is the Rev. Richard Ireson.[3]

Bitchfield is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Billesfelt.[4]
Both Bitchfield and Lower Bitchfield are sometimes described as shrunken rather than deserted medieval villages. There are signs that both were more extensive at one time.[4][5]
The parish church is early, and substantially unaltered, with features of both Norman and Perpendicular architecture.[6]
In Bitchfield ecclesiastical parish there is an old earthwork known as Camp Field.[7]
