Bisalpur is a city and as well as a municipal board situated in the Pilibhit district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The picturesque place has lush green meadows scattered all around. The town is renowned for its Sugar Factory and the Ram Leela Dushera festival held every year. There are a number of educational institutions providing good quality education in various fields like engineering, medical, agriculture and others.In the city there are various historical places, one of the most famous is The Duve Talab, which is approximately 200 years old.

Geography

Bisalpur is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 156 metres (511 feet). Bisalpur is famous for its Sugar Factory and Very famous Ram Leela Dushera festival. It is also famous for Sweets of "Nirmal Sweets" and "Mahavir Sweets Distaces between Bisalpur to Bareilly and Pilibhit, is 43 km and 38 km respectively. Bisalpur is largest Assembly seat of Pilibhit .

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Bisalpur had a population of 60,680. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Bisalpur has an average literacy rate of 47%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 55% and female literacy of 38%. 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.The main colonies in the town includes Patel Nagar, Durga Prasad Colony, Mohalla Dubey , Mohalla Gyaspur, Mohalla Bakhtavar Lal, Station Road colony etc. The town is dominated by Kurmi population. Mr. Tulai Singh Gangwar and Mr. Jagdish Prasd Gangwar won the President Teacher Award for their excellent contribution to the educational field.

There are various Inter colleges and one Government Degree College in the city namely Shri Ram Chandra Municipal Inter College Bisalpur, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Shivpuri Navadiya ,Bisalpur ( a fully residential co-educational central govt. college),janta technical inter college,ram dulari inter college Bisalpur, RPMP Inter College Bamrauli Pilibhit. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is best college in the district according to CBSE results. The admission process is based upon JNV Selection Test conducted by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, MHRD, Govt. of India. Barah Patthar Chouraha is a historical place in Bisalpur, visited by Tatya Tope during Indian Rebellion of 1857. Bala je Girls college is the best college of Girls in Bisalpur. The Principal of school is Dr. Manju Agrawal (M.A., B.Ed., P.Hd.).

Others

Bisalpur is connected to Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur through State Highway 29. Agriculture is quite developed in Bisalpur Area. Most of the crops are cultivated in Bisalpur Tehsil especially Wheat, Rice and Sugarcane.
