Bhambra

Bhambra/Bhamra/Bhamrah/Bhambrah/Bamra/Bamrah is a Tarkhan (Punjab)/Ramgarhia clan found in Punjab (India), mostly in Ludhiana, Mohali, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Patiala, Chandigarh and Delhi. Ramgarhias/Tarkhan (Punjab)s, like Lohars and Kambojs, are a sub-caste of Khatris/Rajputs.

History

Bhambras are claimed to be descendants of Lipka Tatars. They claim their ancestry from the city of Druskininkai. Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, the founder of Ramgarhia cavalry unit, was from Tarkhan family of Bhambra clan.
