Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Goswami (Bhaktiprajñāna Keśava) (January 24, 1898 - October 6, 1968) - was a disciple of Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura and the founder of Gaudiya Vaishnava religious organization Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti, formed in Calcutta in 1940.[1] Bhakti Prajnana Kesava was also known as a friend of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada,[2][3] after whose death a number of Hare Krishnas left ISKCON and joined Bhakti Prajnana Kesava's organization (led at the time by his disciple Narayana Maharaja).[4]

He was also the sannyasa guru of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.[5] Bhakti Prajnana Kesava initiated ISKCON's founder into the sannyasa order on September 17, 1959 in his Gaudiya Math in Mathura, and gave him the name Bhaktivedanta Swami.[6][7]

Seeing him accept his āśrama of renunciation, seeing this pastime for accepting the renounced order of life, we have attained great affection and enthusiasm."
