Beyton is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. According to Eilert Ekwall the meaning of the village name is homestead by brook or Beaga's homestead. The Domesday Book records the population of Beyton in 1086 to be 1 free man. The village is about 7 miles (11 km) east of Bury St Edmunds, on the A14 road.
The church of Beyton All Saints is one of 38 existing round-tower churches in Suffolk.
Beyton Middle School is a middle school for 9-13 year olds in West Suffolk.[1] It currently enrolls about 800 pupils in years 5 to 8. The majority of students come from surrounding villages and mostly go onto Thurston Community College or Stowupland High School.[1]
As of April 2011, Suffolk County Council is consulting on a proposal to extend its school organisation review into West Suffolk. This would mean the closure of middle schools and the introduction of a two tier system in the area from September 2015.[2]
