Pugolovkas, or tadpole gobies, (Benthophilus) is a genus of Ponto-Caspian gobiids. Distributed in the fresh and brackish waters of basins of the Black and Caspian Sea. The word pugolovka (Ukrainian: Пуголовка) means tadpole in Ukrainian. Consists of 20 species:[1]
