Belarc Advisor

Belarc also offers the Belarc Advisor as a free download for personal use. The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, CIS (Center for Internet Security) and FDCC (Federal Desktop Core Configuration) benchmarks, and displays the results in a Web browser. All of the profile information is kept private on the user's PC and is not sent to any web server. There are over 500,000 downloads of the Belarc Advisor every month.

History

Belarc was founded in 1996 by Gary Newman and Sumin Tchen. Dr. Jack Goldman[1], creator and visionary behind Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), was an early director of the company. Belarc is owned by its founders and employees.
