Beerzan

Beerzan (Berzn) was a general in the Sassanid Persian army and nobleman during the Arab invasions in 7th century Persia. Beerzan is known for his role in the battle of Battle of al-Qādisiyyah where he was killed in a hand-to-hand battle with the Muslim commander Qaqa.

At Al Qadisiyyah

At Qasisiyyah Beerzan commanded the left center of the Sassanian army. On the second day of the battle Beerzan was challenged to combat by one of the Arab commanders called Qaqaa. Beerzan accepted the combat however he was slain[1]. Afterward Qaqa went back to the Arab lines telling his men

O Muslims greet the enemy with the sword. Only with the sword do men kill. Do as I do.
